Buenos Aires approves law on mandatory 'The Falklands are Argentine' sign in transport

Buenos Aires, November 28 (NA) -- The Legislature of the Autonomous City of Buenos Aires approved this Friday the bill that establishes the local adherence to National Law 27.023, which provides for the mandatory display of the legend "The Falkland Islands are Argentine" in public passenger transport.

According to the block of Union for the Homeland (UxP) of the capital parliament indicated in a statement, the new standard determines that "all units of the Buenos Aires public motor transport must incorporate the legend in a visible place, with format and typography specifications to be established by the implementing authority".

The project was prepared by UxP legislator Andrés La Blunda, who pointed out that the presence of the legend in public transport constitutes "a daily reminder of our sovereign claim" that must be maintained uniformly throughout the country.

During the debate, it was recalled that National Law 27.023 had expressly invited the provinces and the City of Buenos Aires to adhere to this policy of sovereign signage, with special emphasis on underground transport.

It was also mentioned that the 34 bus lines transferred to the porteño sphere had already incorporated the legend beforehand.
